The Better Life for Aged Men Foundation is a non-governmental organization committed to restoring dignity, improving well-being, and strengthening social connection among elderly men. We are driven by the belief that ageing should not lead to isolation, neglect, or loss of identity, but rather be a stage of life marked by respect, purpose, and fulfillment.
Founded on the principle that our senior citizens are invaluable repositories of wisdom, experience, and cultural heritage, the Foundation was established to address the growing challenge of loneliness and social disconnection faced by many men in their later years. In a rapidly changing society, where traditional family structures and community bonds are evolving, many elderly men find themselves marginalized and disconnected. We exist to change that narrative.
Who We Are
Headquartered in the heart of Owerri, our Foundation serves as a vibrant hub of hope, support, and engagement for aged men. We provide a safe and inclusive environment where they can rediscover companionship, share their stories, and regain a sense of belonging.
We recognize that while many social interventions address broader vulnerable groups, the unique emotional, psychological, and social needs of elderly men—particularly issues of loneliness, loss of relevance, and reduced social identity—require a focused and compassionate approach.
What We Do
Our work is centered around holistic support and meaningful engagement through:
- Social Reconnection Programs – Rebuilding relationships and fostering companionship among elderly men
- Generational Sensitization – Bridging the gap between younger and older generations through dialogue and shared experiences
- Legacy Preservation – Documenting life stories, wisdom, and cultural heritage for future generations
- Community Outreach & Advocacy – Raising awareness and promoting policies that support the well-being of aged men
- Health & Wellness Support – Encouraging healthy living and emotional well-being
Our Vision
To create a society where every elderly man lives with dignity, feels socially connected, and is celebrated as a vital pillar of his community.
Our Mission
To champion the holistic well-being of aged men by providing platforms for social inclusion, health advocacy, and intergenerational mentorship, ensuring their "golden years" are lived with purpose and joy.
